Prophet Sulaiman was the son of Prophet Daud. When his father passed, Sulaiman became king. But he didn't want to be an ordinary king. He prayed: "My Lord, forgive me, and grant me a kingdom such as none after me will possess." (Sad: 35)
Allah granted it. Sulaiman was given:
- Power over jinn — they obeyed him to build whatever he commanded.
- Power over the wind — he could fly from one kingdom to another in moments.
- The ability to understand animal speech — he knew what ants, birds, fish said.
One day Sulaiman passed with a great army. An ant said to her companions: "Enter your nests! Lest Sulaiman and his soldiers trample you unknowingly." Sulaiman heard and smiled: "My Lord, inspire me to keep giving thanks for the blessings You have bestowed on me and my parents." (An-Naml: 19)
Sulaiman also met Queen Bilqis of Saba (Yemen). He invited her to Allah. Bilqis eventually believed.
What's remarkable: with all that power, Sulaiman stayed humble. He never forgot all of it was from Allah. When he died, he was leaning on his staff, and his body remained upright — until termites consumed the staff.
For children: when Allah gives extra (intelligence, strength, wealth), remember — it's all on loan.
