Prophet 2 of 25After Prophet Adam

Prophet Idris

إِدْرِيس

The first prophet to learn writing — raised by Allah to a lofty station.

Prophet Idris was a descendant of Prophet Adam, living centuries after Adam passed away. Allah gave him much knowledge: he was the first to learn to write with a pen, the first to sew clothing, and the first to study astronomy.

Allah praised Idris in the Qur'an: "He was a truthful one, and a prophet" (Maryam: 56). Idris constantly remembered Allah, worshipped, and spread the message of tawhid in his era.

Because of his lofty rank with Allah, Allah said: "And We raised him to a high station" (Maryam: 57). Scholars differ on the meaning of "raised" — some say Allah raised his soul to the fourth heaven, others say it means a high spiritual rank.

What's clear: Prophet Idris's knowledge and worship made him honored with Allah. For children: those who diligently learn and worship are exalted — not in human eyes, but in Allah's.

Three Key Lessons

  1. 1

Learning (writing, reading, knowledge) is part of worship.

  2. 2

Allah elevates those who combine knowledge with action.

  3. 3

Every era needs someone who spreads good — we can too.
