Baby Mo points at the sky

Not yet able to ask in words, Baby Mo pointed at the sky when Umi said Allah. Umi paused.
Umi was saying "Allah loves Mo" while feeding him. Suddenly Baby Mo pointed up, at the ceiling, then looked at Umi as if asking: up there?
Umi paused. A big question from a very small finger. I didn't want to answer with complexity. I just said: "Allah is. Allah made Mo, Ais, the sky, everything. Allah sees us and loves us." Simple, honest, no overreach.
Children absorb the idea of Allah far earlier than we think. Our job isn't to explain it perfectly — that's impossible — but to plant the feeling that Allah is near, good, and loving. Security in Allah first; theology later.
And He is with you wherever you are.
Baby Mo just nodded as if satisfied, then went back to eating. But Umi knows that one finger pointing at the sky was the start of a lifelong conversation.
