Story draft for the Baby Mo book
Why Be Honest?

A cup breaks, and no one saw. Baby Mo almost lies — until he discovers that honesty makes the heart feel light.
Crash! The cup slipped from Baby Mo's hand and shattered on the floor. His heart pounded. He looked around — no one was there. Baby Ais was playing in her room.
When Umi came and asked, "Who broke the cup?", a thought darted quickly through Baby Mo's head: "Just say it was Baby Ais…"
His mouth almost said it. But his chest felt heavy, like a little stone was stuck there. He remembered Umi's words, that lying makes the heart go dark.
Baby Mo took a deep breath. Then, in a small but honest voice, he said, "It was me, Umi. I broke it by accident. I'm sorry."
Something magical happened. The little stone in his chest vanished. His heart felt light, as if it had been cleaned.
Umi knelt and hugged him. "Thank you for being honest, dear. A broken cup can be replaced. But your honesty is far more precious than a thousand cups."
"You're not angry, Umi?"
"Not in the least. In fact, I'm proud. Because daring to be honest is harder than lying — and you chose the hard but right thing." Umi smiled. "See? Honesty makes the heart light and clean. And every time you're honest, people trust you more."
They cleaned up the broken cup together. Strangely, Baby Mo felt happier after owning up to his mistake than if he had hidden it.
From that day on, whenever Baby Mo did something wrong, he admitted it right away. Because he knew the secret now: honesty always leads to good, and an honest heart feels light.
Be truthful, for truthfulness leads to goodness.
Now, tell your little one: if you make a mistake, being brave and honest is wonderful. Hug and praise them each time they're honest — not scold. 💙
