Can Allah See Me?

Baby Mo

Playing hide-and-seek, Baby Mo hides in the darkest spot. "Nobody can see me!" he thinks. But… is that really true?

That afternoon Baby Mo and Baby Ais played hide-and-seek. Baby Mo was the best hider. He slipped into the blanket closet, shut the door tight, and sat in the dark.

"Hehe," he giggled softly. "It's so dark in here. Nobody can see me!"

While he waited, his hands felt around and found something — the jar of his favourite chocolate cookies, the ones Umi had said that morning, "Not yet, okay, after dinner."

Baby Mo swallowed. The cookies smelled wonderful. It was dark in here. No Umi. No Baby Ais. Nobody watching…

His hand almost opened the jar.

But suddenly he remembered something Umi had once told him. He whispered to himself in the dark, "Nobody is watching… except Allah. Allah always sees. Even in the darkest place."

Baby Mo pulled his hand back. Slowly he closed the jar up tight, as if keeping a little secret of goodness. His chest felt warm and light — a feeling far nicer than any cookie.

"Found you!" The closet door opened, and Baby Ais laughed at finding her brother.

That night, after dinner, Umi gave them chocolate cookies. Baby Mo ate his with the biggest smile in the world. Then he whispered into Umi's ear, "Umi, I almost took a cookie from the closet. But I remembered… Allah sees. So I waited."

Umi hugged him ever so tight. "Masha'Allah, champ. That's guarding yourself for Allah's sake. You're good not only when people are watching — but also when you're alone. That's the most special thing of all."

Allah knows what we hide and what we show — He always sees.

Now, ask your little one: "If no one is watching, who still sees?" Then smile together: "Allah." 👀💚
