At-Tin
Meaning: The Fig
Allah created humans in the best form — and reminds us to keep that goodness through faith and good deeds.
Wat-tiini waz-zaituun
By the fig and the olive,
Wa thuuri siiniin
and by Mount Sinai,
Wa haadzal-baladil-amiin
and by this secure city (Makkah),
Laqad khalaqnal-insaana fii ahsani taqwiim
We have certainly created man in the best of stature.
Tsumma radadnaahu asfala saafiliin
Then We return him to the lowest of the low,
Illalladziina aamanuu wa 'amilush-shaalihaati falahum ajrun ghairu mamnuun
except those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted.
Famaa yukadzdzibuka ba'du bid-diin
So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense?
Alaisallaahu bi-ahkamil-haakimiin
Is not Allah the most just of judges?
Tafsir for Children
Allah swears by blessed places, then says: humans are created in the best form — perfect body, mind, heart. But what preserves that honor is only faith and good deeds. For children: we were created special by Allah. The way to keep that specialness: believe in Allah and do good.
When to recite
Teaching children that every human is created special. Part of Juz 'Amma.
