An-Nasr
النَّصْر
Meaning: The Help
The last surah revealed in full — a sign of the Prophet's approaching passing, and a promise of Islam's victory.
إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ
Idzaa jaa-a nasrullaahi wal-fath
When Allah's help and victory come,
وَرَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا
Wa ra-aytan-naasa yadkhuluuna fii diinillaahi afwaajaa
and you see people entering Allah's religion in crowds,
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا
Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wastaghfirh, innahuu kaana tawwaabaa
then glorify the praise of your Lord and seek His forgiveness. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance.
Tafsir for Children
When Makkah was conquered and people entered Islam in crowds, Allah didn't tell the Prophet to celebrate with a party — but with tasbih and istighfar. Lesson: after receiving blessings, don't be proud. Return to Allah humbly. For children: after getting a gift or winning a competition, say alhamdulillah and istighfar.
When to recite
After receiving success/victory. As part of regular Juz 'Amma recitation.
