Al-Inshirah (Ash-Sharh)
Meaning: The Relief
A surah full of hope: after hardship comes ease. Repeated twice so we're sure.
Alam nasyrah laka shadrak
Did We not expand for you your breast?
Wa wadha'naa 'anka wizrak
And We removed from you your burden,
Alladzii anqadha zhahrak
which had weighed upon your back,
Wa rafa'naa laka dzikrak
And raised high for you your repute.
Fa-inna ma'al-'usri yusraa
For indeed, with hardship comes ease.
Inna ma'al-'usri yusraa
Indeed, with hardship comes ease.
Fa-idzaa faraghta fanshab
So when you have finished, then stand up (for worship).
Wa ilaa rabbika farghab
And to your Lord direct your longing.
Tafsir for Children
Allah reminds: every hardship is followed by ease — said twice so we truly believe it. For children: when studying is hard, memorizing is hard, or you're sad — remember, ease is coming soon. And after finishing one thing, move on to another good deed, always hoping in Allah.
When to recite
When a child faces difficulty or is about to give up. Often paired with Ad-Duha.
