Bismillah before the first bite

Baby Ais held Umi's hand back before eating, waiting. She was waiting for 'bismillah'.
At lunch, Umi was about to feed Baby Ais straight away. But she held my hand back, looked at me, waiting for something. I was puzzled for a second — then realised. She was waiting for "bismillah".
Every first bite, we always say bismillah together. It's become their signal that eating begins, like a green light. Without it, Baby Ais felt something was missing.
What Umi loves: she doesn't understand the words yet, but she already understands that eating begins by mentioning Allah's name. The meaning will follow later; the habit gets planted first. That's how a du'a enters a child's body — through routine, not memorisation.
Say Bismillah… and eat with your right hand.
So I held the spoon, we said bismillah together, and only then did she open wide. Green light.
