Laylatul Qadr is a night better than a thousand months — described in Surah Al-Qadr. On it the Qur'an was first revealed, and worship within it carries immense reward.
When to seek it
The Prophet ﷺ told us to seek it in the last ten nights of Ramadan, especially the odd nights (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th). (Bukhari & Muslim.)
The du'a of Laylatul Qadr
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'anni — “O Allah, You are Pardoning and love to pardon, so pardon me.” (Tirmidhi.)
Involving your child
- Count down the last 10 nights. Make a simple calendar your child marks each night.
- Short prayer & du'a together. It needn't be long — just let them feel the night's specialness.
- Teach the du'a above. Short and easy to memorize.
