Prophet Lut was the nephew of Prophet Ibrahim. Allah sent him to Sodom — a city whose people committed grave immorality never before done: men marrying men, and robbing travelers.
Prophet Lut preached long, but they refused. Even his own wife sided with his people, not her husband.
Allah sent angels in the form of handsome young men to test the people of Sodom. When the angels arrived at Prophet Lut's house, the people of Sodom came pounding on the door wanting to harm the guests. Prophet Lut was deeply distressed — until the angels said: "Don't worry. We are angels sent to destroy them."
That night, the angels commanded Prophet Lut to leave the city with his family — except his wife, who perished with them. "Don't look back," said the angels.
At dawn, Allah overturned the city of Sodom. The top became the bottom, the bottom the top. Then Allah rained baked clay stones on them. Prophet Lut and his family were saved.
For children: there are acts Allah greatly dislikes — including violating the natural design of man/woman. Allah is Most Merciful, but to those who persistently reject truth, He is also Most Just.
