Spending on one's family is the greatest sadaqah

Written by Tim Baby Mo

Meaning

A dinar spent in Allah's cause, a dinar spent to free a slave, a dinar given to a poor person, and a dinar spent on your family — the greatest in reward is the one spent on your family.

Narrator: Abu Hurairah

Note for parents

Buying milk for your child, school clothes, shoes that fit — those are sadaqah. What gets dismissed as 'just expenses' is an act greater than charity in Allah's path. Don't feel small when your income goes to your family — that is the largest reward.
