Duas: Gratitude

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مُسْلِمِينَ

Read by the child after finishing a meal, as gratitude.

رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Taught to children to invoke for their parents — after each prayer or daily.

اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا

Read by the child when seeing or hearing rain — a daily moment in tropical Indonesia.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ

Read when putting on new clothes — teaches children gratitude for simple blessings.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ

Said by the child when sneezing. The listener responds 'Yarhamukallah' (May Allah have mercy on you), and the sneezer replies 'Yahdikumullah wa yuslihu balakum' (May Allah guide you and improve your state).

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

Read after finishing study — a reminder that knowledge is a gift from Allah to be received with gratitude.

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيمَا رَزَقْتَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Recited by the child when receiving food, a gift, or any blessing — planting gratitude early.

مُطِرْنَا بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَرَحْمَتِهِ

Said after the rain falls — reminding the child that rain is a grace and mercy from Allah, not just a natural event.

آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ

Said when returning from a journey — in gratitude for arriving home safely.

رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَى وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ

Prophet Sulaiman's dua. Read to ask for a heart that is truly grateful for Allah's favours.
