Dua in Hardship (Prophet Yunus's Dua)

Prophet Yunus's dua from inside the whale. Read by a child when sad, afraid, or facing difficulty.

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

Transliteration

Laa ilaaha illaa anta subhaanaka innii kuntu minazh-zhaalimiin

There is no god but You. Glory be to You. Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers.

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ أَذْهِبِ الْبَأْسَ اشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي

The du'a the Prophet ﷺ recited while wiping the sick — parents can recite it over a feverish child.

أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

The Prophet ﷺ taught this phrase to cool anger. Good for a child learning to manage big feelings.

أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

Recited by parents over their children — often read before sleep or before the child leaves home. The Prophet ﷺ recited this for Hasan and Husain.
