Feeling full is a blessing that’s easy to forget. The dua after eating invites a child to pause and give thanks. Baby Mo’s “Doa Sesudah Makan” song video makes it easy to remember.
The dua after eating
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مُسْلِمِينَ
Alhamdulillāhilladzī aṭ‘amanā wa saqānā wa ja‘alanā muslimīn
“All praise is for Allah who fed us, gave us drink, and made us Muslims.”

Nurturing the habit of gratitude
- Recite together after the last bite. Make it the meal’s closing, as routine as opening with bismillah.
- Connect it to taste. “That was tasty, right? Let’s thank Allah.”
- Model it. When parents give thanks too, children copy without being told.
