Children learn fastest through joy — and songs are one of the best ways to plant good habits. The song “Bismillah Dulu” (“Bismillah First”) invites kids to say bismillah before they start anything: eating, drinking, playing, learning, and sleeping.
Why “Bismillah first”?
Saying bismillah (“in the name of Allah”) before doing something teaches a child that even small activities begin by remembering Allah. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged saying bismillah before eating, and a child can carry this manner through the whole day.
For a child the benefit is simple but big: one small pause, one breath, before acting — growing awareness and calm from an early age.

Bismillah dulu, Bismillah dulu
Mau makan, Bismillah dulu
Mau minum, Bismillah dulu
Bismillah (Clap 2x), Bismillah
· · ·
Mau main, Bismillah dulu
Mau belajar, Bismillah dulu
Mau sekolah, Bismillah dulu
Bismillah (Clap 2x), Bismillah
· · ·
Mau doa, Bismillah dulu
Mau tidur, Bismillah dulu
Semuanya, Baca Bismillah
Semuanya, apa? Bismillah
· · ·
Yuk kita baca apa? Bismillah
Yuk kita baca apa? Bismillah
Yuk kita baca apa? Bismillah
Meaning: Before eating, drinking, playing, learning, going to school, making dua, and sleeping — say bismillah first. Before everything, what do we read? Bismillah.
How to use this song at home
- Sing it at the moment. Right before your child eats, sing “Mau makan, Bismillah dulu” — then say bismillah together. The song becomes a cue, not just entertainment.
- Use the “Clap 2x” part. Two claps get your child physically involved and mark the rhythm — great for toddlers still building speech.
- Turn the ending into call-and-response. “What do we read? Bismillah” — you ask, the child answers. Repeat with a smile.
- Consistent, not perfect. Start with one or two activities (say, eating and sleeping). Add more once it sticks.
