Jumada al-Awwal is the fifth month of the Hijri calendar. According to Islamic history (sirah), this month saw the Battle of Mu'tah in 8 AH — when the Companions showed extraordinary courage in defending the truth.
Courage that is more than just fearlessness
For children, courage needn't be taught through battle details. The core is enough: bravery is still doing what is right even when it feels hard. The Companions were brave because they trusted Allah.
Everyday courage for little ones
- Brave enough to be honest and admit mistakes.
- Brave enough to speak kindly and refuse bad invitations.
- Brave enough to apologize first.
- Brave enough to stand up for a friend treated unfairly.
Lean on Allah
Teach your child that the source of courage is reliance on Allah. When afraid, read the dua for a steadfast heart and the dua of protection. A heart close to Allah is calmer and stronger.
